The balance of international tourists who arrived in our country during the course of December left a positive balance of 61.258 more people than those who traveled outside of Argentina, reported this Tuesday (11.02.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) the National Institute of Statistics and Census (Indec).
The agency estimated that there was the arrival of about 304.400 non-resident tourists to our country, with a year-on-year increase of 3,3%, and because the departures abroad were of about 243.142 local residents.
This represents a year-on-year drop of 13,0%, which represents the lowest number of departures in the last four years. Taking these figures into account, in 2019 tourism achieved a negative flow of 885.100 travellers, but with a clear decrease in departures and an increase in the arrival of foreign tourists.
The majority of tourists came from Brazil, with 68.500 arrivals that month (0,5% less than in December 2018), while the second largest contingent came from Europe, with 66.500 visits (4,4% more).
However, trips abroad by residents of Argentina fell by 13% year-on-year in December, with a total of 243.100 tourists undertaking the trip.
In 2018, 4,4 million resident tourists travelled abroad by air, a figure 0,7% lower than that recorded in 2017.
Also in 2018, 2,7 million foreign tourists entered the country, which represents an increase of 7,5% compared to 2017.
