The President of Uruguay appointed the new Director of Customs

Jaime Pablo Borgiani Lusby is the new National Director of Customs of Uruguay, according to the 1328 / 2019 resolution.

The legislation, signed by President Tabaré Vázquez and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Danilo Astori, was published on Wednesday (21.08.2019) in the Official Gazette of that country.

Jaime Pablo Borgiani Lusby is a Certified Public Accountant who graduated from the University of the Republic and has worked as an official within the Customs Office for 37 years, according to the DGA statement. 

He began his career in 1982 at the National Customs Directorate as an Economic Sciences Technician in the Valuations Division. Over the years he has held positions in various offices of the agency. He was Head of the Audit Department of the Inspection Directorate and Director of the Inspection Division. Before this position he was the Foreign Trade Manager of the DNA.

Since 1988, he has been a professor of Introduction to Accounting and Basic Accounting at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Administration of the University of the Republic (UDELAR). He also teaches Customs and Valuation at the University of Business (UDE) and at the ADAU Foundation School.

He has been a consultant for the IDB WTO in the area of ​​Customs Valuation, developing work as a specialist in Inspection in Guatemala (2001), El Salvador (2002) and Honduras (2003).
