The Government made the “new” withholdings official

The Government made official the new export duty rates for agricultural goods, through the decree 230 / 2020.

The regulations, published this Thursday (05.03.2020) in the Official Gazette, contemplate thethe increase in withholdings on the soybean complex from 30% to 33%, as well as the reduction of products from regional economies, while the same rates remain for corn and wheat (12%) and beef (9%).

The normative text explains that The measure is established within the framework of Law 27.541 on “Social Solidarity and Productive Reactivation in the Framework of the Public Emergency”, "in order to fulfill any of the following purposes: a) to ensure the maximum possible added value in the country in order to obtain an adequate income for national labor; b) to execute monetary, exchange or foreign trade policy; c) to promote, protect or conserve national productive activities of goods or services, as well as said goods and services, natural resources or animal or plant species; d) to stabilize internal prices at convenient levels or maintain a volume of offers adequate to the supply needs of the internal market; and e) to meet the needs of public finances." 

The decree, signed by President Alberto Fernández; the Chief of Cabinet, Santiago Cafiero; and the Ministers of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Luis Eugenio Basterra; and of Economy, Martín Guzmán, comes into force immediately.
