the national government made the implementation official of the new system of Digital National Identity Document (DNI), the Decree 744 / 2019.
The regulation, published in the Official Gazette this Wednesday 30.10.2019) with the signature of President Mauricio Macri, authorizes the National Directorate of the National Registry of Persons (Renaper) to issue "in additional form to the National Identity Document in card format" the virtual credential for smart mobile devices.
The digital DNI will consist of the "exact replica of the identification data of the National Identity Document in card format" and "The processing of the virtual credential will be optional", the decree clarifies.
This is an initiative that responds to "the technological advances achieved in the field of documentation, and to the aim of optimizing and simplifying the portability of the document that certifies the identity of people," the text says.
The implementation of digital DNI «will not affect the validity of current National Identity Documents, issued by the National Directorate of the National Registry of Persons," he notes.
