The Government exempted a series of biologically-based products from the Common External Tariff (CET) of MERCOSUR, through the Decree 297/2021.
The regulation, published this Thursday (06.05.2021/XNUMX/XNUMX), indicates that “in order to develop the national production of certain essential medicines for the treatment of human health with a high content of research and development that add value, it is necessary for the State to generate competitive conditions, through the establishment of specific tariff policies.”
He also stressed that "the development of national production projects for this type of product is strategic in preserving national sovereignty, in its health aspect."
"In this regard, a series of biologically-based products have been identified that should be incorporated into the National List of Exceptions to the AEC in order to establish, in relation to them, differential rates of Extra-Zone Import Duties (DIE)," the official text states.
The legislation is signed by President Alberto Fernández; the Chief of Staff, Santiago Cafiero; and the Ministers of Economy, Martín Guzmán, and Productive Development, Matías Kulfas.
