The National Government arranged the celebration of the commemorative festivities for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the sanction of the reform of the National Constitution, sworn on August 24, 1994, through the decree 520 / 2019.
The regulations, published in the Official Gazette this Tuesday (30.07.2019) points out that "It is an exceptional opportunity to promote the values contained in our Magna Carta and revitalize the ideals that it proposes to us, recognizing the importance and robustness that constitutional principles must have in any democratic society.".
As reported, the Cabinet Office, in conjunction with the Ministries and Secretaries of the Presidency of the Nation, will be in charge of the design and planning of the commemorative events to be held between August 14 and 24.
In this context, the Government will present a commemorative medal to the Constituent Convention members in recognition of their work.
On August 24, the twenty-fifth anniversary of the swearing-in in the province of Santa Fe will be commemorated, which later had a parliamentary counterpart through the sanction of Law 24.309, where Congress declared the need for constitutional reform.
In 1994, the National Constituent Convention met at the National University of Litoral, in the city of Santa Fe, and at the Tres de Febrero Municipal Theater, in the city of Paraná, between May 25 and August 22, with the reform of the Magna Carta being sworn in on August 24, in the historic San José Palace, in Entre Ríos.
The decree also invites the participation of the provinces, the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and the municipalities. He said:the need to organize celebrations and commemorations in the days leading up to and on the date of August 24 of this year, through activities that must be organized and executed ensuring the leading participation of the different educational communities, civil society organizations and the general public.
"In this way, constitutional principles are promoted to become living texts, increasing our awareness of their constant presence in the daily lives of Argentines," the decree concludes.
