Through the Decree 563 / 2025, published in the Official Gazette this Thursday (07.08), the National Executive Branch ordered the Reduction to 0% of the Export Duty (ED) rate all with more than 200 tariff items for mining sector products.
The measure covers goods included in the items of :
- Metal and non-metal mining
- Application rocks
- Mineral fuels
- Precious and semi-precious stones
The disposition It will come into effect tomorrow, Friday, August 8, 2025..
Its objective is to promote added value in the country, foster employment, improve the competitiveness of the mining sector, and increase exports, in line with the principles of administrative simplification, tax reduction, and fiscal sustainability.
The mining sector currently represents Argentina's fifth largest export complex and explains about the 80% of exports from provinces like Jujuy, Santa Cruz, San Juan and CatamarcaHowever, its share in the national GDP is barely 1,2%, compared to countries in the region where it exceeds 10%.
Likewise, The decree repeals the “Optional Registry of Copper Exports”, created by Decree No. 308/2022, since it was never implemented and does not have registered beneficiaries.
With this decision, the Government seeks "stimulate new investments, open foreign markets and generate employment, strengthening the country's economic development without compromising fiscal balance," the decree states in its grounds.
