In the first six months of this year, the E-commerce had a turnover of 152.619 billion pesos in Argentina. This figure represents an increase of 56 percent compared to the same period in 2018.
In the same semester of 2019, 56.5 million products were sold, through 41.9 million purchase orders.
Such data was provided by the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce (CACE), within the framework of the 13th edition of eCommerce Day, which took place in Buenos Aires.
According to the same entity, Traffic searching for deals on the Internet registered an increase of 20% compared to 2018, reaching 2.1 million sessions so far this year.
“The mobile segment shows significant growth in both searches and purchases via mobile devices: traffic through this tool was 71%, while purchases made represented 50%, 14 percentage points more than the same period last year,” the Chamber highlights.
"In the first 6 months of 2019, more than 843 million pesos were invoiced per day and the number of purchase orders made increased by 21% compared to the previous year. This shows us that consumers are resorting more frequently and adopting this modality as an increasingly daily habit, declaring a satisfactory purchasing experience throughout the process.", said Alberto Calvo, president of the Argentine Chamber of Electronic Commerce.
Best Selling Products
Food, beverages (non-alcoholic and alcoholic), children's clothing and accessories, non-sports footwear and tools have been the most sought-after products by Argentine buyers.
Payment methods and logistics
Credit cards remain the main payment method chosen by users. However, there is a strong growth in the use of debit cards, which represent 9% (5% in 2018). The mix is completed by electronic wallets and cash payments (15%).
In terms of logistics and product delivery, while point-of-sale pickup leads with 46% (54% in 2018), home delivery is growing with 43% (39% in 2018). We also noted strong growth in the option of withdrawal at the logistics operator's branch with 11% (seven points more than in 2018).
