Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie received the new Japanese Ambassador to Argentina, Takahiro Nakamae, who replaces Noriteru Fukushima after four years in office, the Japanese Embassy announced on Thursday (05.09.2019).
Nakamae arrived in the country this week and in a video he posted on social media he expressed his excitement at returning to Argentina. The current Ambassador served as Counselor at the same Embassy almost 20 years ago.
He also highlighted the history of friendship that has united both countries for more than 120 years and the relationship of "strategic partners" that both nations maintain.
Ambassador Nakamae presented a copy of the credentials to Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie on Wednesday, with whom he had a pleasant meeting in which they discussed the relations that Argentina and Japan have been developing.
The diplomat, who has just completed his last duties as Director General of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs at the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed in the video his desire to strengthen the excellent bilateral relationship, and commented on his wishes: "I wish to reach out to the Nikkei community and its younger generations, to further strengthen the ties that unite the two nations."".

About Takahiro Nakamae
A graduate of the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo, he began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. His first international assignment was in Argentina as Counselor at the Japanese Embassy in Buenos Aires, and later held various positions in Iraq, Mexico, and Brazil.
