The financial institution announced this Friday (5.4.2019) that David Malpass was the new president after having been unanimously elected by all the directors of the institution.
The new president served as Under Secretary for International Affairs at the United States Department of the Treasury.There he also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Developing Nations at the Treasury Department.
He was also a member of several organizations such as the Council of the Americas and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.
Finally, he is currently Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the IBRD and the International Development Association before assuming his post on April 9 as President of the World Bank.
