US to seize exports of masks and gloves amid coronavirus crisis

-

The United States will seize exports of protective medical equipment until it determines whether it should be kept in the country to combat the spread of the new coronavirus, two federal agencies announced on Wednesday (08.04.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX).

The United States Customs and Border Protection Service (CBP) will withhold exports of respirators, surgical masks and gloves, according to a joint announcement made with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)

FEMA will determine whether the equipment should be returned for use in the United States, purchased by the federal government, or exported.

President Donald Trump issued a memo on Friday directing federal agencies to use their powers to keep medical supplies in the United States.
