US threatens to impose 20% tariff on EU cars

-

President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 20% tariff on all cars assembled in the European Union (EU) entering the United States, a month after his administration launched an investigation into whether vehicle imports posed a threat to national security.

"If those Tariffs and Barriers are not torn down and removed soon, we will impose a 20% tariff "on all cars entering the United States. Arm them here!" Trump wrote on Twitter on Friday (22.6.2018).

Starting in July or August

The US Department of Commerce aims to resume by the end of July or August a investigation into whether car imports and pieces pose a risk to national security, Secretary of State Wilbur Ross said Thursday.
