The Government of Uruguay will apply tax benefits to companies and educational entities dedicated to electronics and robotics.
This is what the Decree 717 / 2018, which regulates Law 19.592, whose objective is to develop micro and small businesses, intensive in highly qualified labor, with a marked export profile, but with a strong dependence on imports, says the Presidency of the eastern country.
Customs facilitation and streamlining
The benefit involves the elimination of the payment of taxes and duties on imports of inputs intended for the manufacturing process of prototypes or small production series, for operations under 2.000 dollars.
Furthermore, operations under $500 do not require the involvement of a customs broker. and beneficiaries can carry out customs procedures through the VUCE (Single Window for Foreign Trade) platform, the text states.
Trading caps
The sum of $10.000 for companies and $30.000 for tertiary education institutions These are the annual limits for operations carried out under the new regime.
Condition
Interested companies must apply for registration through the National Directorate of Industries (DNI) of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mining (MIEM), in the registry of beneficiaries of Law No. 19592. The agency will approve or reject the requests after considering, in each case, whether the applicant meets the requirements to be a beneficiary.
