The Federal Public Revenue Administration, through the Since last January, the General Directorate of Customs (DGA) has made available to the Ministry of Health and Social Development merchandise valued at US$ 74.902.328, which was seized in attempted smuggling cases, for distribution among clubs, cafeterias, hospitals and schools.
The goods, equivalent to 3.643 tons, were delivered this year after authorization from the intervening judge, Marcelo Aguinsky, based on presidential decree 51/2017. Since 2017, to date, merchandise worth 118.507.144 dollars has been delivered.
The products belong to the categories of clothing, footwear, toys, household goods, kitchen items, electronics, linens, ceramics, cars, rolls of fabric, paper, threads, tools, stationery, bags and backpacks, among others, which were seized for smuggling or because they did not have a permit to be sold in the country.
In total, according to the ministry's data, 613 donations have been made this year: 62% of them went to non-governmental organizations; while the remaining 38% went to public organizations. These institutions are located in the neighborhoods of more than 173 cities and towns throughout the country.
Among the NGOs that received these donations are social groups, development societies, civil associations, cultural and sports centers, retirement centers, clubs, soup kitchens, cooperatives, schools, foundations, homes, social movements, parishes and neighborhood associations.
Much of the donated goods were recovered after the opening of 314 containers belonging to the case known as the “Container Mafia”; Products from this case continue to be delivered to this day.
Furthermore, Customs made available to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Nation merchandise valued at US$ 3.658.120, to be donated to various localities in the interior of the country.
There are 1.346.868 units of goods that were seized by agents of the different customs at the borders (sea, air and land).
Outstanding figures
There were some donations that stood out more than others due to their amount. Among them, there was one from 23.000 jackets which was done at the beginning of the year and which Customs delivered to the Ministry of Health and Social Development; in July, they were added 70.000 toys to the same organization, which distributed them on the occasion of Children's Day.
In that same month, more than 100,000 items were donated. 280.000 units of merchandise In Santiago del Estero, among other items, clothing, underwear, blankets, towels, shoes and backpacks.
From a customs warehouse in Rosario, for its part, some 22 trucks full of merchandise have already been removed in August, which is equivalent to 441.554 units of pants, jackets, footwear, blankets, bags, backpacks, underwear and clothing in generalIn the same month, more than five million pesos worth of merchandise, such as clothing, footwear and electronics, were donated in the cities of Concordia, Concepción (Tucumán) and Rafaela.
Finally, there was a donation of thousand digital reading calibers, used for length measurements, which was donated to the IPET N°58 technical school in the city of La Puerta, Córdoba, and which benefited some 500 students. It is worth mentioning that, before this donation, the school only had one gauge in its possession.
