The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) reported a major meat packing plant in the city of Chascomús, province of Buenos Aires, for tax evasion of $13.750.000, after determining that during 2016 omitted holdings of cattle worth more than $14 million and presented other tax inconsistencies exceeding $2,8 million.

In addition, during the audit tasks carried out by AFIP officials, a increase of $25.000.000 in the observed exercise result.

This is the signature Microgauss SA., which after these control actions submitted a rectification of its sworn statement in which it recognizes the millionaire balance to be paid in the concept of VAT and Profits. In addition, subscribed to a payment plan to cancel the determined debt.

The complaint, filed with the Criminal Secretariat of the Federal Court of Dolores and, according to the Tax Criminal Regime, establishes penalties that can range from 3 years and 6 months to 9 years in prison.

Audit tasks

These audit tasks are part of the controls that the AFIP has been carrying out on different agri-food chains, where high evasion rates are observed.

According to AFIP controls, the bovine sector registered, between February 2017 and March 2018, a 131% increase in VAT collection and an 82% increase  in the amount of declared sales.

The current system establishes that in order to obtain authorization to slaughter animals, beef slaughterhouses must make a payment on account of VAT prior to slaughter, in addition to also making a payment on account of their employees' pension contributions.
