A delegation from the European Parliament (EP) will make an official visit to Uruguay between 29 and 30 October 2018 to discuss negotiations between the European Union (EU) and Mercosur and other issues of bilateral interest, official sources announced on Friday (26.10.2018).
The delegation of MEPs will meet with Uruguayan authorities -such as the Vice President of the Republic, Lucía Topolansky-, representatives of the Legislative Branch and the Parliament of Mercosur.
"The MEPs will discuss Uruguay's priorities as the pro tempore president of Mercosur," a bloc that also includes Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay, according to a statement from the EU delegation in Montevideo.
«They will exchange views on the negotiations between the European Union and Mercosur and will discuss the possibilities of future cooperation," the note added.
The MEPs will also discuss with Uruguayan lawmakers "issues of bilateral interest", such as negotiations between the two blocs, the situation of migrants, developments in regional integration and the importance of multilateralism in today's world.
