According to information provided by the National Service of Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa), fresh fruit exports between January and April of this year totaled 278.099 tons, that is un 13,9 percent more compared to the 244.220 tons shipped in the same period last year.
Senasa professionals inspected shipments of 182.609 tons of pears, an 8,5% growth compared to the 168.238 tons exported in the same period last year. The main destinations for this product were: Russia (53.296 tons); Brazil (34.561 tons), United States (30.692 tons) e Italy (24.473 tons)
While the 38.111 tons of apples certified between January and April mean a del% increase 31,6 on the 28.950 tons shipped in the first four months of 2019. The first destination markets for this product were Brazil (11.106 tons); Paraguay (5.944 tons); Russia (4.301 tons); Bolivia (3.860 tons) y United States (1.610 tons).
Likewise, the export certification of 30.082 tons of lemon, indicate a 64,8% improvement compared to the 18.259 tons shipped between January and April of this year 2019; while the certification of shipments of Oranges, with 13.635 tons, grew by 20% compared to 11.364 tons in the same period last year.
Russia (15.362 tons), Netherlands (1796 tons), Greece (1.741 tons) y Canada (1.360 tons) were the markets that demanded the most Argentine lemons in these four months; while Paraguay (13.611 tons) received the largest quantity of Argentine oranges exported.
Senasa also recorded the growth in the certification of exports of Mandarins, 2.422 tons (10% more than the 2.186 tons in 2019) and cherry, 2.145 tons (65% more than the 1.297 tons of 2019).
In the first four months of 2020, 3.773 tons of grapes, 1.849 tons of pomegranates and 884 tons of plums, among other fresh fruits, were certified as exports.
«Within the framework of the social, preventive and mandatory isolation ordered by the national government in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the agents of the Senasa They continue to carry out the phytosanitary certification of products, which is necessary for the export of products of plant origin," the organization says.
Before signing The phytosanitary certificate is verified by inspectors – through the Senasa regulatory system – that the merchandise meets the health and quality requirements established by each purchasing country.
