COVID-19: Argentina extends health emergency for one year

The national government extends the public health emergency due to the pandemic declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) in relation to the COVID-19 coronavirus, for a period of one year, through the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) 260/2020.

The regulations, published on Thursday (12.03.2020) in the Official Gazette, establishes the penalty to those travelers who do not comply with the recommended quarantine isolation. The latter will be obliged to comply with this period if they come from the Highest risk destinationsThese are the Member States of the European Union, members of the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America, the Republic of Korea, the State of Japan, the People's Republic of China and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The text also provides for the Suspension of international flights of passengers coming from the “affected areas”, for a period of thirty days, depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation. 

The rule clarifies that the Ministries of Security, Interior, Defense and Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, must give support in the health emergency to the health authorities at the country's entry points for the exercise of the function of Border Health, when necessary to detect, evaluate and refer cases suspected of being compatible with COVID-19. 

The decree of the National Executive Power is a public order rule.
