In 2018, trade between the Member Countries of the Andean Community and China reached 46 thousand 257 million dollars, a figure that represented an increase of 22,8% compared to the trade recorded in the previous year.
This was reported by the Secretary General of the CAN, Jorge Hernando Pedraza, when presenting the Annual Report “Foreign trade in goods between the Andean Community and China 2009 – 2018”.
According to the report prepared by the Statistics Department of the General Secretariat of the Andean Community, trade between Peru and China reached 23 million dollars, between Colombia and the Asian country 288 million dollars, with Ecuador the trade was 14 million dollars and with Bolivia it totaled 601 million dollars..
The Main exported products by the CAN to China during 2018 were: copper minerals, crude petroleum or bituminous mineral oils, flour, powder and pellets of fish or other aquatic fish invertebrates, copper cathodes, crude refined copper and zinc minerals.
Meanwhile, Main imported products by the Andean Community from China were: mobile phones (cell phones) and those of other wireless networks, automatic machines for data processing, telecommunication devices by carrier current or digital telecommunication, motorcycles and bicycles and other motor vehicles for the transport of people.
According to the Secretary General, in 2018 China was the second destination for exports from the Andean Community, representing 16% of its total exports.
Regarding the origin of imports from the Andean Community, he said that China occupies second place with a 20,9% share.
