The first course on Customs Valuation for the Americas and the Caribbean has begun

This Thursday (18.08.2022/XNUMX/XNUMX) the first Customs Valuation course for the Americas and the Caribbean region began. This, thanks to the organizational efforts of the Regional Office of Capacity Building (ORFC) based in Uruguay, with the support of the
Regional Vice-Presidency of the World Customs Organization (WCO)
, according to official sources.

The activity is taught between the August 18 and October 14, 2022, by officials of the National Customs Directorate of Uruguay, through the computing platform of the Regional Capacity Building Office.

The statement details that a video conference was held today with all the participants.
for the presentation of content, familiarization with the platform and completion of previous details.

"The activity is based on the collaborative learning method, combined with the analysis and study of practical cases," said the National Customs Directorate of Uruguay.

"The course aims to learn about the different existing customs valuation systems, their origins and evolution, their main characteristics and understand the reasons why the latter has finally predominated in our days. 'positive notion' of the WTO Customs Valuation Agreement,” he added.

The general principles of the Agreement, its advantages and limitations, its methods and order of priority will also be analyzed, and its practical application will be exercised through multiple and varied specific cases that arise from the current reality of international trade. 

At the end of the course, the statement said, participants are expected to master and understand the essential elements of the transaction value method, its definition, characteristics, requirements, adjustments and restrictions. 

It should be noted that the WCO encourages and coordinates the training of human resources for those working in international trade and customs, in order to assist the economic growth and development of the member countries.
