Paraguayan shipowner Independencia Shipping Lines presented the Indigo Express service on Friday (12.10.2018) in the port of Montevideo, with which it will develop river transport of rolling cargo on the Colonia-Buenos Aires-Colonia route from Wednesday 17 with five weekly frequencies.

Domínguez explained that the ship will have a Paraguayan flag at the beginning of operations and that a large part of the crew will have that nationality.The situation was discussed with the Single Union of Sea Workers and Related Workers, so that the change of flag and the increase in Uruguayan crew members can be carried out without conflict after a period of time.
"The company will work, on an exceptional basis, for 90 days in Colonia del Sacramento, where it will build up its client portfolio, and then it will move its operations to Puerto Sauce, in the city of Juan Lacaze, in December, when the infrastructure works are finished," which will facilitate the operation of the ship, said Domínguez.

These works are complementary to the expansion of the dock promoted by the ANP. and is being carried out by the construction company Saceem with plans to finish it in December. They are part of a set of productive initiatives promoted by the Executive Branch for the reactivation of Juan Lacaze, the official pointed out.
Indigo Express CEO Gabriel Kaklouk said at the ceremony that “The initiative will help position the country as a regional logistics center and will mean a contribution to multimodal transport, which Uruguay so badly needs.”
