China Customs launches “state-of-the-art” online payment system

China Customs has launched a "state-of-the-art" online system through which "declaration and payment are made simultaneously," allowing for immediate clearance through customs.

The network between customs, the state treasury and commercial banks achieved the “Paperless, automatic and intelligent payment"the Chinese agency said in a statement release.

"By using the Single Window or Internet plus Customs, companies can pay tariffs through the new online payment system, without logging into another platform, and can complete the clearance in one go," the statement added.

In addition, the entity reported that the district of Ningbo Customs China has already made its first declaration for the import of plastic items with duties paid through this system. "After electronic verification of the company's declaration and processing of its tariff payment, the products were immediately inspected and released," China Customs said.

Currently, the state-of-the-art online payment system can be used for import/export duties, anti-dumping duties, import VAT and indirect taxes, late payment penalties, among others.

The system can also be used to sign Trilateral electronic agreements between companies, customs and banks.
