The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of Argentina reported this Monday (23.09.2019) that China authorized the first seven plants for the export of Argentine soybean meal, as part of the agreement recently signed by authorities of both countries.
In a statement, the agency said that the authorized establishments are Bunge Argentina, LDC Argentina, Cargill, Molinos Río de la Plata, Renova, T6 and COFCO.
The Minister of Agriculture, Luis Miguel Etchevehere, considered that "The authorizations were obtained in record time", after a few days ago, within the framework of the formalization of the health protocol for the export of the item, he highlighted the China's confidence in Argentina regarding agreements on agroindustry.
«This historic achievement allows us to trade with the world's largest consumer of vegetable protein, and consolidates our country as the main exporter of soy flour and oil on the planet. The authorizations were achieved in record time.", the official emphasized.
On September 11, in Buenos Aires, the governments of Argentina and China formalized the Protocol of sanitary and phytosanitary requirements for the export of Argentine soybean meal to the Asian country, after 20 years of negotiations.
Soybean meal is the main export product of the South American country, which regularly ships to the European Union (EU), Vietnam, Indonesia, Algeria, Malaysia and Australia, markets to which China has now been added.
Argentina is also the world's leading exporter of soybean meal and in the last three years has sold an annual average of 27,1 million tons, worth approximately 9.400 billion dollars annually, according to official data.
The statement from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries added that China also recently approved the licensing of seven poultry slaughterhouses and eight cattle slaughterhouses "under a simplified system based on trust." generated with Argentina and the National Service of Agri-Food Health and Quality (SENASA).”
