China's software exports reached $37.500 billion in 2017, a increase of 9,7 percent annually, the Ministry of Commerce said in a report on the digital economy on Wednesday (13.6.2018).

Three destinations

Nearly half of this figure, $18.900 billion, was exports to the United States, the European Union and Japan, the report said.

High growth and little innovation

China's software exports have grown rapidly since 2012 and have gradually moved closer to the high end of the value chain, he said.

The report also noted that China still lacks innovative capabilities in developing basic software and development tools and warned domestic software companies about rising costs and risks in the industry.
