China eases customs clearance of coronavirus-fighting materials

China's General Administration of Customs reiterated on Tuesday (28.01.2020) that it will implement expedited clearance for imported materials used to combat pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus 2019-nCoV.

The measure aims Strengthen the supply of materials on the market to combat the disease, according to the same source.

The administration and its directly affiliated offices should set up rapid customs clearance teams for imported materials in the fight against the novel coronavirus outbreak, it said.

In the meantime, several measures will be taken such as advance declarations and summary declarations, with the aim of ensuring "zero delays» in the distribution of medicines, disinfectants, protective equipment and medical devices to combat the outbreak.

The agency explained that materials donated to fight the coronavirus will benefit from tax reductions or exemptions and procedures can be managed after clearance.

In an earlier statement issued on Sunday, the administration ordered “green channels” and special service windows to be opened at customs to speed up the process of clearing medical supplies from overseas.
