China has confirmed the definitive opening of its market for the import of sheep meat and by-products from Argentine Patagonia.
This week, the Chinese government announced the approval of the health protocol and the proposed products during the meeting held last December at the headquarters of the Argentine agricultural portfolio between the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Nation, Luis Basterra, together with the president and vice president of the National Service of Health and Agri-Food Quality (Senasa), Carlos Paz and Carlos Milicevic, respectively, with the vice minister Li Guo, of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
For the first time, our country is authorized to export sheep meat and by-products from Patagonia to the Chinese market.
The first plant enabled to make shipments to China is 4449 belonging to the Montecarlo SA meat processing plant, located in Río Gallegos, province of Santa Cruz.
Taking advantage of a working visit to Senasa's Patagonia Sur Regional Center, tomorrow, Milicevic will visit the plant that has been set up to carry out the opening and verify, together with regional officials, compliance with the health requirements of the first shipment that will be sent to the Asian destination in the coming days.
The opening of this new market represents a great opportunity for the development of the Patagonian regional economy and will promote job creation.
