One of the final steps to finalize the Mutual Recognition Agreement for the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs of Chile and China was completed with the visit made by the Chinese Customs delegation to the trans-Andean country, headed by Hu Dongsheng, General Director of the Audit and Control Department.
The delegation, received by the Director of Chilean Customs, José Ignacio Palma, accompanied an audit of the chemical company BASF's AEO certification maintenance, to review the standards required by Chile to grant this category to national importers and exporters. In addition, the delegation visited the Customs Training Center, learning about the inspection processes of Chilean customs.
«International cooperation and the deepening of the OAS Program are among the current priorities of our administration, so this agreement that we are building with the main market for Chilean exports and imports comes to strengthen all the efforts that we are making to have more efficient tools for inspection and facilitation, aligned with the guidelines of international organizations such as the WCO and the World Trade Organization.", highlighted the National Director of Customs of Chile, José Ignacio Palma.
The Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) is a mechanism developed by Customs Administrations around the world, which allows validations and authorizations granted to an Authorized Economic Operator in the country to be recognized by other countries. This extends the granting of benefits, making them mutual, so that the Operator in turn receives benefits in the countries with which this type of agreement is signed.
This MRA, which is expected to be signed during this year, complements the efforts that the Service is making in terms of securing the international logistics chain, building relationships of trust with those operators around the world committed to protecting legitimate trade and supporting smart taxation strategies.
This initiative is part of the work that the National Customs Service is carrying out to consolidate the Chilean AEO Program, specifically with regard to the internationalization strategy and expansion of the benefits that operators receive once they achieve AEO certification.
