Chile: the new Hito Cajón border complex is in operation

The complex, located 43 kilometers from San Pedro de Atacama, will allow for the monitoring of around 300 people daily.

                                                                                  

Since this Tuesday (08.08.2017) the New border complex Hito Cajon, located 43 kilometers from Atacama, in the Province of El Loa, Chile, and more than 4.700 meters high.

The new 750-square-meter infrastructure, with an investment of more than 779 million pesos, has a physical inspection area for vehicles, offices for public attention, and an accommodation and rest area for officials. 

It will have the capacity to handle 4 medium-sized buses and 3 private vehicles, which will allow it to control approximately 250 to 300 people a day who travel along this international corridor.

The authority reported that in the complex they will carry out control tasks of the Chilean services of the Investigative Police, Customs and SAG, but Carabineros will also have personnel on site every day of the year.
