Chile strengthens inspection with new model of security seals for containers

-

The Chilean National Customs Service has developed a new model of security seals that will allow for better control of the inspection of imports and exports. The initiative uses new technological tools to prevent fraud in foreign trade.

The model was developed by the Sub-directorate of Inspection in conjunction with the Administrative Sub-directorate, which through the latter's Supply Unit carried out a bidding process that was awarded to the company Sellos Santa Isabel Ltda, which previously supplied the stamps, according to the Customs statement.

Security seals are a kind of padlocks which are placed mainly on all container doors, to ensure their traceability and prevent them from being illegally intervened during the journey between the place of dispatch and their final destination.

For the Administrative Subdirector, Gustavo Poblete, "it was a joint effort with the Subdirectorate of Inspection that allowed us to carry out a "smart purchasing" process, which seeks to meet the needs of the National Customs Service, incorporating technology and adding value to the Customs functions. Finally, it should be noted that the purchasing team is already working on the possibility of incorporating new attributes to the security seals."

This new model of security seal has a QR code incorporated, which can be read from any mobile device, providing important information that allows identifying the Regional Directorate or Administration of origin of the stamp and the date and year of circulation, in addition to having a link that redirects to the Service's website.

The Deputy Director of Inspection (s), Patricia Paredes, commented that "In line with strengthening the control and inspection processes, new seals have been designed that meet quality and safety standards that contribute to the traceability of the flow of containers throughout the logistics chain, to continue fulfilling our role of protecting foreign trade and citizens."

To this we add that The stamp changes color every yearFor 2020, it will be red and will be in circulation for one year, while the dimensions and characteristics of the sealing system will not vary.
