The Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco) and the National Customs Directorate signed a collaboration agreement that aims to Strengthen the work they do in the field of mining exports and imports in accordance with their respective areas of action and which modernises a current agreement.
“This information exchange agreement will allow both institutions to perform their functions more effectively and efficiently. By integrating and combining our efforts, we contribute to better oversight, greater control in the protection of the fiscal interest, as well as the construction of more complete sources of information on the development of the mining industry in Chile,” said the Minister of Finance. Executive Vice President of Cochilco, Marco Riveros.
In turn, the National Director of Customs, José Ignacio Palma, indicated that “this instrument will allow us to access detailed and quality information regarding operators, so that our inspections are increasingly more efficient, directing all efforts towards cases that actually present risks. Ultimately, this joint work allows us to gain in efficiency, but above all in prestige for the country's mining exports.”
In particular, the agreement seeks to optimize the use of the systems and services that both institutions have available for the speed up the transfer of information, such as updating tariff codes; the timely submission of Single Exit Documents (DUS) and Value Change Reports (IVV) that allow for the review, approval or rejection of the IVV, among other background information.
