Chile is making progress in its efforts to implement exchanges with China and Russia through electronic certification "without papers," the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) of that country reported on Friday (14.9.2018).

«We are strongly promoting the development of electronic certification, and in this case with Russia and China it represents the gateway for many Chilean products to markets of enormous magnitude."said the director of SAG Chile, Horacio Bórquez, in a statement.

He said that progress in matters related to trade facilitation and the use of new technologies "is something fundamental" and one of the priorities of the SAG. Representatives of the SAG and the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca) held meetings with Chinese and Russian authorities.

The objective was to review the status of the current exchanges of electronic phytosanitary and zoosanitary certificates, as well as to address technical aspects that allow progress towards a new stage of this Paperless processing with both countries, SAG explained.

The entity said that the Chinese authority "presented its new operating structure, and reiterated its interest in moving forward with Chile in the next stage of the Electronic certification of poultry, pork, beef and sheep meat", without the need for official printed paper.

He added that China expressed its interest "in incorporating shipments of chilled and frozen salmon under this same modality", initiatives that imply greater agility in the processing by importers.

The latter would generate "great benefits to the marketing process of goods exported from Chile" abroad, Bórquez said.

Russia

Regarding the Russian authority, the deputy director of Foreign Trade of Senapesca, Monica Rojas, explained that "The elimination of paper documentation allows Russian importers to move shipments more quickly", which contributes to expanding markets and business opportunities for an exporting country like Chile.

In these meetings, the operation of the electronic certificates issued by the SAG and Sernapesca for sending documents was evaluated. pork and salmon to Russia, with a view to incorporating new products under this modality.

The topics discussed with both countries are part of the presidential commitments in the areas of agriculture and economy, and represent "cutting-edge advances in relation to technological tools for trade facilitation," added the SAG.
