Chilean government deepens exchange of foreign trade information

The National Customs Service and the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations (SUBREI), dependent on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed this Tuesday (14.04.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) a important information exchange agreement that will allow them to have a greater amount of data to better carry out their work, the organization reported.

Through a Videoconference in which the Undersecretary of Finance, Francisco Moreno, the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations, Rodrigo Yáñez, and the National Director of Customs, José Ignacio Palma, participatedBoth institutions signed this agreement, emphasizing the benefits it will have for all their areas.

The Undersecretary of Finance highlighted that “It is very positive that we have this opportunity to exchange information and the type of information that both institutions will have access to is extremely interesting, all for the benefit of foreign trade and the development of the country."

Along the same lines, the Undersecretary of International Economic Relations stressed that “This exchange of information will allow us to have a Better monitoring and faster response to global crises and contingencies, which directly impact our exports and imports, both at the country level, as well as in the regions and companies.¨

The signing of this new information exchange agreement is part of the inter-institutional collaboration work that Customs has with other state agencies, which allows them to carry out their work more efficiently.

"For the management of Customs and its various units, the signing of agreements of this nature allows for adding valuable input to the different areas of its supervisory role and analysis of foreign trade, which It is determined in the process of institutional modernization and strategic planning that we have in progress", explained the National Director of Customs, José Ignacio Palma.

He added that “access to quality and timely information allows better decision making, positively impacting institutional managementl, in this case especially in everything related to foreign trade".

Through the signed agreement, SUBREI undertakes to send and update, when appropriate, Chile's lists of elimination of customs tariffs or tariff preferences, negotiated within the framework of the signed trade agreements; list of Specific Rules of Origin; trade agreements signed and in force; economic sector classifier; and quarterly reports prepared from the information provided by Customs.

For its part, the National Customs Service will send and update the information on the entry and exit of goods and services, as basic documentation data for foreign trade processes contained in the DIN (Entry Declaration) and DUS (Exit Declaration), both through the portal www.datos.gob.cl, and IVV (Value Change Report); and the RUT dictionary that relates the Unique Tax Identification Number and the Business Name of exporters and importers with the Unique Importer Number.

The exchange of information signed between both institutions It will always be executed by electronic means and will be managed by the Customs Studies Department and the Studies Directorate of the Undersecretariat of International Economic Relations.
