Chile implemented a Health passport to monitor people's health status who want to enter the country and that will prevent the entry of those that pose a risk to the population, within the framework of a series of measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
This was reported by release of the Ministry of Health on Sunday (14.03.2020), after confirming that the neighboring country was increasing its alert phase due to the coronavirus, which already has 61 cases in the country.
The health passport has the power to prevent the entry into the country of people who represent the minimum risk for the Chilean population. Thus, according to the provision, "People coming from countries considered high risk will go through a health customs where their entry and circulation through Chile will be determined.
The Ministry of Health also announced that the passengers arriving in Chile from Germany, China, France and Iran They will have to undergo a 14-day quarantine, a measure that is already applied to those arriving from Spain and Italy, all of which are considered high-risk countries by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Likewise, people arriving from these countries, whether Chilean or foreign, and who have to undergo a 14-day quarantine, must isolate themselves in their own private homes, those of relatives and/or friends of the traveler or, failing that, in a tourist accommodation service, informing the address of the facility to the Health Authority.
The Chilean government has been taking measures since January 15 and has designed a plan to protect the population from COVID-19.
