Exporters call for a national export strategy as a driver of development

-

The president of the Chamber of Exporters of the Argentine Republic (CERA), Enrique Mantilla, said this Wednesday (14.08.2019) that a national export strategy is the basis of sustainable development, when inaugurating the celebration of Export Day at the Four Seasons hotel in Buenos Aires.

Mantilla stressed that "imbalances in the external sector have been at the heart of the numerous recurring crises," and maintained that "successive governments have not yet managed to implement lasting solutions capable of generating inclusive and sustainable development."

He stressed that «Chronic fiscal imbalance is only one of the many variables that indicate that Argentina's growth crisis is deep and structural», and considered that "To enable inclusive development, it is essential to adopt a growth strategy based on exports and investment."

He also pointed out that "it is clear that policies that aim to provide fiscal responses become unsustainable in the long run," and insisted that "having a national export strategy is the basis for sustainable development."

«Leadership is not enough; there must also be determination and the proper sequencing of measures for the development of policies that must be sustained as a State policy through successive governments.", Mantilla said.

He considered that "the public and private sectors must continue to work together because a new order of things is needed in our economy," and concluded that "it is necessary to achieve a structuring political consensus."
