Mercosur foreign ministers to discuss trade negotiations with EU

-

The foreign ministers of Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay will meet on Thursday (6.12.2018) in Brasilia to discuss negotiations for a trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union (EU), the Uruguayan foreign ministry confirmed.

At the meeting, the foreign ministers will analyse the outcome of the latest round of negotiations between the two parties, held from 12 to 20 November in Brussels.

Mercosur and Eurasian Economic Union

"This Wednesday, the 5th, I am traveling to Brasilia for the meeting of foreign ministers (of Mercosur) and negotiators, to see how the negotiations with the European Union are going, with a view to having a next meeting in Montevideo, to see if we can move forward at the bloc's summit on December 16th in the Uruguayan capital, where a memorandum of understanding will be signed with the Eurasian Economic Union" —made up of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia—, indicated Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa.

“We have good prospects, without a doubt,” he said. “These advantages that we offer in terms of safety, traceability, certainty that we give to our buyers, the seriousness that we show in commercial business, make us be looked upon with great respect, and in Mercosur we have a great imprint,” he celebrated.
