Brazil: Agreement approved to end double taxation with Argentina

-

The Brazilian Senate approved on Wednesday (20.6.2018) the Protocol of Amendment to the Convention between Brazil and Argentina aimed at avoiding double taxation and preventing tax evasion with respect to income tax. The project now awaits promulgation.

The release It notes that the protocol, consisting of 28 articles, provides a new version of the 1980 Convention.

Different issues

The new text addresses different issues, from capital constituted by real estate, movable property, ships, aircraft or land transport vehicles; shares and interests in the capital of a company; to the exchange of information between the competent authorities of both countries.

Senator Fernando Collor (Christian Workers Party-Alagoas) considered that the protocol "brings those countries closer to the most modern international practices in this area, forming a channel of incentive for investments between countries signatories and leading to the bilateral strengthening of their trade and economic relations."
