Brazil and the United States took the first step towards Brazil's participation in the program "Global Entry» from trusted travelers administered by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Customs and Border Protection Agency, which aims to allow easy and automated immigration of previously accredited citizens, the Brazilian foreign ministry said.
The The two governments signed a joint declaration containing the general parameters of the program and agreed to conduct a test for a small group of Senior Executive Forum participants (up to 20 people). This experimental phase, which will begin shortly, will identify the technical and operational needs for launching a pilot phase and, subsequently, for the full and expanded implementation of the programme.
Global Entry does not replace the visa requirement, but allows for expedited release from passport control upon arrival in the US. Interested parties can apply for entry into the United States at selected airports in a bureaucratic manner through automated kiosks, without contact with an immigration officer, avoiding the need to go through the immigration control queue.
Brazil's participation in the program is an old claim of the sectors private Brazilian and American. In 2019, the joint declaration was negotiated, which allowed the official announcement, at the tenth meeting of the US-Brazil Senior Executives Forum, the “CEO Forum” (Washington, 25/11/19), the first concrete step towards the implementation of the program.
When fully implemented, Global Entry will facilitate U.S. procedures for Brazilians enrolled in this program. The measure is considered important for greater fluidity in business travel.
In addition to Brazil, 11 other countries are participating in the “Global Gateway.”
