Brazil to send pork to China

-

The consequences of the outbreak of African swine fever in Asia have reached the Brazilian pork market.

China, which is increasing meat imports to counter a supply shortfall after swine flu decimated half of its pig population, has just approved the import of pork from seven plants in the South American country, Brazil's Agriculture Minister Tereza Cristina said on Monday (04.11.2019). Shipments can begin immediately.

Brazilian refrigeration plants were able to market six types of pigs: legs, tongue, snout, mask, ear and tail.

The establishments are BRF (Campos Novos), Pamplona Foods (Presidente Getúlio and Rio do Sul units), Central Aurora Food Cooperative (Joaçaba and Chapecó units) and Seara Foods (São Miguel do Oeste and Itapiranga units).

"Exports can begin immediately. The measure will boost the economy of Santa Catarina and will generate more income for farmers., the minister said when announcing the news on Twitter on Monday morning.
