Brazil expands list of products with fast customs clearance

The Brazilian government expanded the list of products that will have import clearance carried out on a priority basis to help combat the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus.

Thus, it is provided by the RFB Regulatory Instruction No. 1.929, published this Friday (27.03.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the Official Gazette of the country, whose text establishes the priority shipment of products such as chloroquine and its derivatives, covid-19 test kits and automatic DNA sequencers, among others.

As provided for in Regulatory Instruction RFB No. 1.927, dated March 17, 2020, these products will have a Greater speed in customs procedures, allowing the delivery of the goods to the importer. In addition, import declarations involving these goods must be given priority treatment, both by the Federal Revenue units and by the depositary responsible for their custody.

With the new additions, The number of categories increased to 91 and includes equipment such as sterilizers, intubation equipment and medical oxygen.

This new measure by Brazil's Federal Revenue Secretariat (Receita Federal) seeks to maintain a rapid flow of goods, merchandise and raw materials intended to combat the epidemic, and to avoid bottlenecks in customs areas by speeding up the delivery of cargo and allowing its economic use to strengthen the fight against the virus.
