The national government approved the retail sale of household appliances and motor vehicles in the Free Trade Zone of La Quiaca, through the decree 773 / 2019.
The measure was announced this Friday (15.11.2019) in the Official Gazette, the text of which says: «Retail sales operations, including household appliances and motor vehicles, are authorized in the Free Trade Zone of the City of La Quiaca, Department of Yavi, Province of Jujuy”.
According to the official text, the decision responds to Addendum No. 1 to the Agreement of Adherence to Law No. 24.331 on the Creation of Free Trade Zones, signed on February 2, 2018 between the National Executive Branch and the Province of Jujuy, signed on October 21, 2019. The addendum, referring to the second clause authorized the retail sale of household appliances, now also allows the sale of automobiles in the La Quiaca Free Trade Zone.
Thus, The modified clause takes into account a request from the government of Jujuy to enable the retail sale of motor vehicles, as well as household appliances.
In the border city in the far north of the country, two free trade zones were opened, the second in the city of Perico, this one of a productive and industrial nature. The inauguration of the works of the two free trade zones is expected next year.
