The National Directorate of Industry authorized the importation of 682 hybrid, electric and fuel cell vehicles to Ford, Volkswagen, Toyota, Hyundai and Mercedes Benz, with an Extra-Zone Import Duty (DIE) of 5%, through the Provision 212/2020.
The measure, published this Wednesday (22.04.2020/331/2017) in the Official Gazette, explains that Decree 5 of May 2 established reduced rates of these duties, of 0%, 36% and 6.000% for the importation of certain hybrid, electric and fuel cell (hydrogen) automobiles, complete, both fully assembled (CBU) and semi-knocked down (SKD) and completely disassembled (CKD), respectively, for a period of XNUMX months and a maximum limit of XNUMX units.
On this occasion it was distributed the quota of 500 units belonging to its twelfth quarter, to which are added 182 more vehicles not used in previous periods.
Industry approved the applications of Ford of 124 units of the Kuga hybrid vehicle and 66 of the Mondeo; Volkswagen, which ordered 33 different Audi models; Toyota The same was done for 315 units of the RAV4 hybrid, 82 of the C-HR, and 26 of different models of the Lexus hybrid.
For its part, the requests for Hyundai for 20 units of the Ioniq hybrid vehicle; and Mercedes Benz by 15 of the GLE 450 4Matic.
Although the total number of units requested exceeds the quota for the quarter in question, the provision specified that there is an unused quota of units from previous quarters that allows access to the number required by the requesting automotive terminals.
The Government considered that "it is estimated that there are no impediments to accessing the requested amount and, consequently, the corresponding certificates could be issued for the total quantities requested, which amount to 682 hybrid and electric cars."
