Through decree 853/2017 published this Tuesday (24.10.2017) in the Official Gazette, the export refunds for pork and by-products were raised until June 31, 2018.
The Government considered it necessary to make certain modifications to the levels of Export Refunds (ER) in force for certain goods in the pork sector. “The national State has assumed the commitment to implement various measures aimed at promoting the improvement of the competitiveness of the agricultural and agro-industrial sector, encouraging the added value of its products, job creation, and promoting the strengthening of regional production, taking into consideration the productive diversity of the entire national territory," the regulation explains.
Likewise, the national government took into account that "the production of the goods in question contributes greatly to social and economic growth, with positive impact on regional economies, which is why it is necessary to provide competitive conditions for the respective activities.”
According to the regulation, "the proposed modification is part of the process of comprehensive review and restructuring that is being carried out on the RE regime, consisting of the total or partial restitution of the amounts that have been paid in the form of internal taxes on the merchandise that is exported."
Therefore, from now until July 31, 2018 inclusive, the RE for goods included in the tariff items of the Common Nomenclature of Mercosur (NCM.) that make up the Annex of the decree were modified, going from 4% to 6% for fresh and frozen pork cuts, 6,5% for ham and shoulder and 7,5% for ready-made or semi-ready dishes made with pork.
After July 31 of next year, the RE levels indicated in Annexes I and III, as applicable, of Decree No. 509 dated May 15, 2007 and its amendments will again apply.
The Ministry of Agroindustry will issue any additional and clarifying regulations that may be necessary in relation to the provisions of this decree, and may, to this end, require the intervention of other ministerial departments with jurisdiction in the matter.
