Argentina and Uruguay began work on Friday (26.4.2019) to establish the first land dividing line between the two countries, which will be defined between the Martín García and Timoteo Domínguez islands, according to Télam.
Technicians from the River Plate Administrative Commission (CARP) arrived in Timoteo Domínguez to begin hydrographic and topographic studies which will determine where the imaginary line that divides the territories of both countries will pass.
Presidents Mauricio Macri and Tabaré Vázquez decided to push forward with this task, which had been postponed by previous administrations.
The teams will have a drone to obtain a panoramic view that allows them to draw the imaginary line accurately.
The Argentine island of Martín García was separated from the Uruguayan island of Timoteo Domínguez, but the natural advance of the sediments determined that they were unified..
The good harmony that prevails between the two governments was reflected yesterday in a meeting of legislators, which was attended by the Argentine ambassador to Uruguay, Mario Barletta, Senator Marta Varela, from Cambiemos; Deputy Alejandro Grandinetti, from the Frente Renovador, and around twenty Uruguayan legislators.
