Argentina and Paraguay agreed on Tuesday (18.12.2018) to allow border crossings through the Yacyretá dam.
Presidents Mauricio Macri and Mario Abdo Benítez agreed to open the border crossing on the crest of the Yacyretá hydroelectric plant, which will link the city of Ayolas in Paraguay with Ituzaingó in Argentina., reported the IP Agency.
The request to open the crossing began in 2001, after the completion of the civil works of the binational entity. From then on, a process of action by former mayors, deputies and governors of Misiones began, which culminated with this announcement, the text states.
About Yacyreta
Yacyretá is located in the Apipe Falls, on the Paraná River, about 20 kilometers from the city of Ituzaingó, province of Corrientes, and close to the Paraguayan city of Ayolas.
This location was chosen to take advantage of the power of the river's waterfalls and the ability to contain the waters through a dam, located on three large islands: the Paraguayan Yacyretá and the Argentine Talavera and Apipé.
Aduana News is the first Argentine customs newspaper to launch its digital version. With 20 years of experience, its publications and initiatives aim to provide the most relevant knowledge on customs issues in order to contribute to safe trade in the region.
