Argentina: The use of the "Electronic Meat Delivery Service" will be mandatory

The Federal Public Revenue Administration (AFIP) establishes the mandatory use of the “Electronic Meat Delivery Document” (“REC”), as the only valid document for the automotive transport, within the country, of meat and by-products derived from the slaughter of cattle and pigs.

This is established by the General Resolution 4256/2018 published this Thursday (31.5.2018) in the Official Gazette with the signature of the head of the tax collection agency, Leandro Germán Cuccioli, with the purpose of completing the traceability process of these goods, as well as updating the documentation procedure for their transfers.

According to the standard, the use of the "REC" will be mandatory for individuals, companies or sole proprietorships, societies, associations and other legal entities that carry out any of the following activities:

a) Cold storage facility/slaughterhouse.

b) Faena Users.

c) Supplier.

d) Scrapyard.

e) Meat Consignee

f) Direct Consignee.

While the transfers of products from the slaughter of cattle and meat from bovine/buffalo and porcine species will be excluded from such use, when they correspond to import and/or export operations of the same, or carried out with Final Consumers.

The new resolution will come into force on July 1, 2018.
