The Government suspended for the duration of the public health emergency an antidumping measure that taxed the import of disposable syringes from China, through the Resolution 114/2020.
The measure of the Ministry of Productive Development, published in the Official Gazette, suspends the effects of Resolution No. 360 of August 2017 in relation to the antidumping measures applied to export operations to Argentina of hypodermic syringes made of plastic material, disposable, sterile, with and without needles, originating in the People's Republic of China.
The official text recalls that the 2017 regulation established a definitive ad valorem antidumping duty of 59% for export operations of that product to Argentina, calculated on the declared FOB values, for a period of five years.
However, he clarifies, Law 27.541 on Social Solidarity and Productive Reactivation within the Framework of the Public Emergency, declared the public emergency in economic, financial, fiscal, administrative, social security, tariff, energy, health and social matters, extended by Decree 260 of March 12 by virtue of the declaration of the Pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in relation to the Coronavirus COVID-19.
For the Undersecretariat of Commercial Policy and Management of the Secretariat of Industry of the Ministry of Productive Development, "it is necessary to adopt new appropriate measures that are added to those already adopted since the beginning of this situation, guaranteeing the population access to certain critical inputs in order to mitigate its spread and health impact."
