Argentina restricts export of 29 categories of medical supplies

-

The Government adopted temporary restrictions on the export of certain categories of critical medical supplies in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, through the Decree 317 / 2020.

The decision, published this Saturday (28.03.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the Official Gazette, provides that in order to export ethyl alcohol and gel, paracetamol, surgical and disposable gloves and protective clothing, among 29 other products, the shipment must have a permit issued by the Ministry of Productive Development, with the intervention of the Health portfolio.

The Government made the decision "given the health emergency situation taking place in our country and in order not to affect the health care of the population."

For this reason, it is "necessary to adopt new and immediate measures in addition to those already adopted since the beginning of this situation, guaranteeing the population access to certain critical supplies, in order to mitigate its spread and health impact," the decree stated among its recitals.

The decree authorizes the Ministry of Productive Development to "issue the complementary and clarifying regulations that are necessary to implement this measure, and to establish the criteria to promote the aforementioned authorizations, the issuance of which will be subject to the full coverage of the local supply needs of the goods involved."

The law, signed by President Alberto Fernández, the Chief of Staff, Santiago Andrés Cafiero, and the Minister of Productive Development, Matías Sebastián Kulfas, comes into force immediately.
