The national government expanded and reinforced the contingency plans in Argentine international ports, within the framework of the current epidemiological situation due to the coronavirus, and to guarantee foreign trade, through a official notice of the Ministry of Transport published this Friday (27.03.2020/XNUMX/XNUMX) in the Official Gazette.
He stated that, within the framework of the public health emergency and social, preventive and mandatory isolation, for Any ship that requires entry into an international port, this request must be submitted by the shipping agency to Border Health at least 72 hours before arrival..
The Border Health Unit of the port in question will have to carry out the documentary risk assessment and validate the possibility of boarding the Argentine Naval Prefecture vessel.
Once authorized by Border Health, the Argentine Naval Prefecture will board and take the crew's temperature.
If there are no symptomatic cases, the ship will continue to the port of destination, where Border Health will carry out a new evaluation by boarding the ship and taking the temperature of the crew and passengers.
From then on, and unless there is any news, the free speech will be broadcast in port.
If a person with symptoms is detected at any time during the process, the ship will be quarantined and sanitary conditions will be established for the disembarkation of the symptomatic passenger or crew member.
Port terminals
Transport also instructed international port terminals to arrange, in the next 72 hours, the operation of health posts at their own expense, located in a place to be determined in consultation with the health authorities of the jurisdiction.
These posts must have the appropriate conditions to provide medical assistance to crews who require it and to those who perform their tasks in the port, in order to guarantee the functioning of foreign trade.
Health posts must have a suitable room or container according to the number of personnel estimated to need to be cared for; doctors and nurses, to carry out essential healthcare tasks; waterproof tactical equipment to prevent the spread of coronavirus, such as a coverall, mask, gloves and a protective helmet with visor.
They must also have remote scanning thermometers, saturation meters and the necessary antiseptic elements.
