The Secretary of Agroindustry of the Nation, Luis Etchevehere, ratified in Japan the commitment of the Argentine Government to "find solutions to global challenges" that imply the sustainable production of food, the secretariat reported this Monday (13.5.2019) through a statement.
«Since the beginning of President Macri's administration, we have assumed the objective of intelligently reinserting Argentina in the world. That is why I reaffirm our commitment to multilateralism and cooperation to find solutions to global challenges», said the head of the agro-industrial portfolio. He also added that "Food security, improved nutrition and the promotion of sustainable agriculture is everyone's responsibility, and in that sense, Argentina is a reliable partner to coordinate actions and join forces".
As part of the Troika, Etchevehere chaired a working session on "Agri-food value chains" which was attended by ministers from Germany, France, Italy, India, Chile, Senegal, the Netherlands and Mexico, and international organisations such as the WTO, WFP and IFPRI.
«Value chains contribute to strengthening the food safety and be more efficient in the use of our resources", said Etchevehere. In turn, he said:"which have a very strong implication on transparency, competitiveness, job creation and the income of producers."
The G20 is the leading forum of the world's major economies, which in the case of agriculture account for 60% of all agricultural land and approximately 80% of global trade in food products.
