Within the framework of the current Pro Tempore Presidency of Mercosur that our country currently holds, the Fifth Ordinary Meeting of the Digital Agenda Group of the regional bloc (GAD) was held at the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

The GAD was created at the end of 2017 with a strong push from the then Argentine Presidency of Mercosur and seeks to promote the development of a free and secure regional digital market., making it easier for citizens and businesses to trade through secure and reliable digital infrastructures, strengthening connectivity, trust in networks and the exchange of information, as well as intergovernmental cooperation and public-private dialogue on the matter.

The meeting allowed for monitoring the progress of the different axes that make up the 2018-2020 Action Plan, to present the national Digital Agendas of the bloc's partners, as well as to discuss ways to enhance and strengthen the Group's operation. In addition, a review was made of the salient results of the Seminar "Digital Skills and the Future of Work: a vision from Mercosur" held in collaboration with INTAL-IDB, where the different policies that are promoted to address the challenges of technological transformation in the educational, social and labor fields were addressed.

Mercosur partners agreed on the importance of continuing to promote and deepen the bloc's digital agenda in order to provide the necessary tools for the digital integration of citizens and companies in the region. They also discussed the best ways to promote dialogue on the matter between Mercosur and the Pacific Alliance.

The meeting was led by the Argentine coordination of the GAD and was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Production and Labor, the Secretariat of Government Modernization, and ENACOM, among others, in their capacity as members of the delegation of our country and Argentine authorities from each of the Axes of the Digital Agenda.
